Set on an expansive lawn rambling down to the beach, Mai House offers inviting accommodation in 30 lovely white stucco and thatched-roof bungalows. Rooms are understated, but tastefully decorated, with bamboo blinds, tiled floors, and Vietnamese comforters on the four-poster beds. There’s definitely an attention to detail and atmosphere here that is lacking in most Phu Quoc accommodation.
The bathroom is a cut above, with a dark wood sink leading to a spacious shower with tiles decorated with butterflies. Each room comes with plants in front of the deck to give you a bit of privacy as well. Even though Mai House has a reputation for being meticulously maintained, air-con rooms were so spotless that we assumed it was still new. A large buffet breakfast is included in the price as is WiFi. phuquoc homestay
